Private Studio Consultations

You focus on musicianship, we focus on set-ups.

Get 1 to 3 staff members from The Music Store in your studio for a master class with your students, and their parents, to discuss and demonstrate how they get a focused sound, the right set-up or how to clean and care for their instrument. All of this so they maximize their performance.

We help your students remove any gear related barriers so you can focus on the music they create. Many players have so much more potential than they are realizing because their instrument or set up is limiting their progression.

We give students the opportunity to hear themselves on gear customized for them so they recognize what you already see in them.

Schedule your studio consultation today! Students will come out with the following and so much more:

Orchestral Instruments

  • Correct size of instrument. You’ll know if they’re playing on the right size or when you can expect them to change sizes.

  • Chin and shoulder rest is fitted correctly. Many players suffer from various pains or fatigue associated with a poorly adjusted shoulder rest and the wrong chin rest. Chin and shoulder rests differ to accommodate various body types and students will be able to try several options out.

  • Cleaning. Know how to safely remove rosin from your instrument top and bring out the luster without causing any damage.

  • Instrument fits their level. Beginner instruments do not get students through High School well. We can evaluate their level and ensure the instrument matches their level.

Wind Instruments

  • Mouthpiece fits you. Mouthpieces come in various sizes, much like shoes, and when you find your perfect fit, playing becomes easy and your tone projects to the back of the room. Students will be able to play-test several mouthpieces to see what fits them.

  • Right reed and ligature. The right strength of reed depends on the mouthpiece you play on and the right ligature can make your instrument play much more easily.

  • Adjusted properly. Wind instruments have several adjustment points and can create a lot of difficulties if not regulated or fitted correctly. We’ll ensure everything works great!

Fretted Instruments

  • Instrument fits your song style. Body shapes and wood choices change what sound your guitar fits well. Many players use the wrong instrument for the sound they’re attempting to create. Play test several to see what fits the sound you want.

  • Set up is adjusted properly. Nut / bridge heights and truss rod adjustments are critical to your instrument being easy to play. We’ll measure yours and make suggestions.

  • Perfect string selection. The strings that fit your music style, instrument and playing level can make all the difference to you enjoying your fretted instrument. Know you’ve got what you want by playing a few instruments strung with different strings so you can feel and hear the difference.
